Welding Technology:
TLC’s accredited Welding Technology Program encompasses essential tasks performed by welders, focusing on safety procedures for welding and cutting operations.
Students will learn to read and interpret welding symbols from construction drawings. The curriculum equips students with the skills to safely set up and operate oxygen and acetylene torches, preheat and torch-cut steel, and master the fundamentals of welding metals through fusion and the addition of filler metal. Emphasis will be placed on developing hand-eye coordination and effective puddle control.
Upon completion, students will be able to apply their skills in both construction and manufacturing industries. The program includes comprehensive coverage of Gas and Arc Welding Theory, as well as Technical Blueprint Reading. Students will gain a solid understanding of MIG, TIG, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes.
The program can be completed in 27 weeks.
Welding BASICS:
This continuing education course is designed for individuals employed in facility maintenance who wish to enhance their skills in welding.
In this introductory course, students will learn fundamental welding theory and techniques, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures for both welding and cutting operations. By the end of the course, participants will have a solid foundation in basic welding practices, enabling them to apply these skills effectively in their work environments.
This program can be completed in 8 weeks.
Welding Certification:
This course is designed for advanced welders seeking certification in one or more core welding techniques. Participants will be prepared for the AWS certification test based on the specific code they are working under. Earning certifications enhances a welder’s skill set and opens opportunities for a wider range of welding jobs.
Upon completion of this program, students will be tested by a CWI in accordance with the A.W.S. D1.1 Code requirements. Successful participants will receive a Welding Operator Qualification Test Report stamped by the CWI.
Prerequisites:
- Must be an experienced welder.
- Ability to pass a basic skills test.

Established in 2001, Technology Learning Center (TLC Trade School) provides continuing education to individuals that wish to develop a new skill set or enhance an existing one. Located just outside of Worcester in Oxford, MA, TLC offers flexible day and evening classes that are designed to work around our student's with unique or busy schedules.
